The Maintenance/Safety Manager manages the maintenance service and repairs in the areas of machine and electrical servicing for the organization’s facilities. Monitors equipment and ensures efficiency and effectiveness. Plans and schedules all maintenance activities for facilities. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.
Key Maintenance Manager Job Responsibilities:
- Oversee, manage and direct all maintenance procedures and operations
- Ensure all machinery is up to working standards
- Assess current maintenance work processes, to optimize efficiency
- Manage proactively
- Use data analysis to help prepare for and prevent future problems
- Create and implement measures to minimize breakdowns and repairs (performing quality checks of all machinery, tools, equipment etc.)
- Troubleshoot problem areas and create a clear plan of action for fixing necessary parts
- Oversee repairs
- Train new employees in maintenance work processes and procedures
- Create a work environment with safety as a high priority
- Perform evaluations of employees to ensure quality of work
- Record and track daily progress/error reports
- Requisition orders for parts and materials as needed to maintain equipment
- Create and adhere to maintenance budgets
- Enforce all health and safety rules and regulations according to state/federal laws and company protocol
- Propose and implement energy conservation measures for facilities and production equipment.
- Works closely with Technical Maintenance Manager to support wastewater programs
- Oversee the coordination of building space allocation and layout, communication services, and facility expansion.
- Oversee the cleaning and maintenance of the facility.
- Oversee facility security.
Key Safety Manager Responsibilities:
- Chairs the Riverdale Safety Committee to help coordinate resources and track the abatement of Plant Safety
- Establishing oversight and working relationships with the supervisors, Managers and Operations Director regarding the control of all safety protocols and practices are adhered to.
- Identify safety priorities and tracking the plant’s progress in addressing these priorities
- Managing and supervising the use of contracted, outside safety consultants to ensure they provide quality service at costs consistent with the company’s requirements
- Works closely with the Human Resources Manager on Workers’ Comp cases
- Recognizes and reports personal injury and potential hazards and shares ownership of their elimination.
- Develop policies and procedures to protect the safety of all staff, on all shifts and in all positions.
Maintenance/Safety Manager Education and Experience
- BS or associate degree with technical training in plant engineering or factory/plant maintenance.
- Minimum of three to five years of progressive experience and responsibility in a maintenance and safety field, two of which were holding a supervisory position directing a maintenance staff.
- Management experience for a manufacturing facility.
- Safety experience in a manufacturing environment
