The Quality Assurance Technician conducts quality assurance audits on the production floor assuring company standards are maintained and product integrity is preserved. Consults with management to resolve quality, production, and efficiency problems. Functions as an information source to various departments when special and critical quality issues occur.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Examines material or product for surface defects such as cracks, pits, and incomplete welds
  • Verifies specified dimensions of product or material.
  • Verifies the process is operating within established operating parameters.
  • Inspects, identifies and tags product defects and categorizes the types of defects.
  • Selects products for tests at specified stages in production process, and tests for variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance and mechanical characteristics.
  • Interprets engineering drawings, diagrams and confers with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards.
  • Operates any diagnostic equipment needed to perform job.
  • Confirm that plant audit procedures are properly carried out and assigned work schedules are maintained.
  • Determine overall plant product quality by conducting and evaluating various product tests.
  • Evaluate and take corrective action when necessary with regard to audit findings.
  • Educate and instruct plant personnel in recommended quality control testing, equipment sanitation and general sanitation and housekeeping practices. Confirm these procedures are being maintained.
  • Consult with the shift supervisor and plant management and recommend operational procedures to improve overall efficiency and product yields.
  • Discuss plant evaluation with plant management, make appropriate recommendations and set timetable for improvement and corrections.
  • Function as an information source for management and other departments when critical quality issues arise.
  • Prepare plant evaluation reports and submit them to manager.
  • Assist in development of special department projects and work in conjunction with manager.

Technician Requirements:

  • Associates degree with 4 years of quality related experience; or a minimum of 3 years of quality-related experience.
  • Must be results driven with the ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast paced and changing work environment.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in quality systems manufacturing.
  • Team leader experience.
  • Product-related knowledge and experience
  • Knowledge of quality system requirements
  • Knowledge of ISO 9000 (regulatory) requirements
